Revisiting trips: Le musée Fragonard
This museum was remarkable and a highlight of my trip to Paris last May. Another highlight: Paris Catacombs.
Above are some pictures I took throughout the museum. While I photographed every inch of the small space, I made my brother narrate the tour he was listening to on headphones.
It’s difficult for me to pinpoint what my favorite specimen was. Bronchial trees or Mermaid Boy of the 1800s? I will say the “Monsters” corridor made me both depressed and exhilarated.
Also on view, the world’s largest collection of parasites. The story of the founders is quite fascinating too. How the school allowed Fragonard to flay bodies with abandon before finally being cast out as a madman is a wonder. What he did for the study of anatomy is without doubt.
